If curiosity killed the cat... what killed the dog?

I was a junior in high school, chemistry class with Ms. Jon. To all of my HUHS readers... I hope you all have that smile on your face.

Now, not only did Ms. Jon wear a necklace with her name written in Egyptian hieroglyphs, she also taught CHEMISTRY. My most feared class - but I loved it. I sat front row and asked HELLA questions. Naturally one of them being... so did you go to Egypt? Thirty minutes later with only fifteen to teach balancing equations...

You may laugh but this is real. She legitimately limited me to 3 questions a class otherwise she would have never of made it through a period.

So I started showing up before school - this became habit for most of my science teachers. I would write little side notes knowing that not everyone cared about the newly discovered four leaf clover shaped molecule hidden in the nucleus that the teacher partially mentioned while flipping slides. Noted. I will ask about that one after class.

I weighed my odds - being late to Student Council for the fifteenth time because I was wildly curious about a newly discovered molecule or mildly amused by showing off how "good" I could walk in ridiculous heels with weathervane jeans past my boyfriend (after finding out he cheated on me) ((again)) - only served me one or two detentions - worth it.

So what killed the dog?

All scientific experiments begin with an observation which leads to a question, hypothesis, experiment, data collection, conclusion.

According to my number one follower and only responder:

My sister, Stephanie...

"Is it just the one sentence?"

-space

"And nothing killed the dog bc dogs are better then cats and curiosity doesn't like cats."

Commercial break

As kids back in the 90s - Stephanie and I were playing in the field where all the neighborhood kids met to toss water balloons, pick fights, and kick the can. Well - some tweenage girl decides to make some bully type comment towards my older sis who has always looked way older for her age, and on top of that, drop dead gorgeous, a natural threat to the maturing.

It took all of two seconds for my little gremlin self to hear that, turn around and yell, "YEAH! Well you are a CAT and DOGS are better than cats!!!"

Stephanie's face turns beet red but pats my back to say, "Ali, no... lets go," with that lower head shake, all the while knowing it is going to be a long road ahead together ;) I got u boo. Xo.

To this day though - that girl has my back. I really think I proved myself to her that sunny afternoon...

Conclusion

Curiosity doesn't kill dogs, it doesn't kill humans either.

The current lesson: Being curious doesn't always mean taking action.

At 33, I think I am actually beginning to explore this concept.

Naturally... I am a wildly curious person. I want to do it all; when I do it all that means putting to action all of my senses. I think this is how the cat gets killed...

What would it be like to be a para-rescuer in the Air Force or a volunteer for the Peace Corps in Zambia? How would I feel if I were a full-time fisherwoman or lived the full-time river guide life? What about being a school teacher for a village in Utqiagvik, AK? (trust me, the list goes on)

I am manifesting life to get me to age 120 - turns out we don't get 9 lives so have to play with our curiosity... conservatively. I think Sea Empathy might be the best place for this Octopus Mind.

Glad Earth created empathy.

Sea ya next post.
