Mental Muscles

In weight training I have learned that you are really not going to make breakthroughs until you are unable to perform the last 2-3 reps, the same applies to breath holds except we are talking seconds over reps.

It is more comfortable for me to be surrounded by people that “like me,” that I can make happy and that appreciate the energy I provide - it is absolutely terrifying saying no or “I can no longer” or this is not working for me.

Unfortunately, this translates to people-pleasing.

I am willing to collapse in the weight room because I cannot pick myself up from one more rep of goblet squats and I need to apply this to my comfort of having people like me.

Those that are on this same journey of finding comfort in discomfort will understand.

Those of the Salmon mind will fight like hell to keep going upstream because they too know that if they make it to the Ocean, they will be in the ring to grow stronger and therefore able to offspring a better self.

I crave physical challenge but wet myself in shame when it comes to social challenge.

Again, in order to grow, this needs to be applied everywhere. Can I get to know myself well enough where I do not question what is best for me. How do you get to know yourself? Hang out with yourself.

Put yourself to bed. Cook for yourself. Make money for yourself. Create a routine and be relentless about losing that.

I know that I am tired of hearing myself on repeat so I have to take action and get mentally uncomfortable because on the other side will be the life that I have created and am accountable for.

When you look outside of your predator vision and are in the ring of the Ocean - those in your peripheries will be your people.

Quyana to the people that swim upstream; Quyana to you for pulsing through losing false friends.

I hope to sea or meet you in the Ocean.

And to everyone else, keep fighting; there is another way. #seaempathy
